Storytaco's next project is now up on Steam. In What the K-Drama?!, players fall into the world of a ridiculous cliche K-Drama. Using the first-person perspective, the game features six main female leads, a few of which are popular actresses. This title was made in collaboration with motion picture studio Showbox, who is a powerful name in the Korean entertainment world. The game is due out in March 2027.
This isn’t reality. You’ve fallen straight into the world of a ridiculous, cliche-filled makjang K-drama you once dismissed and rejected in the real world! To return to reality, you must find true love, become chairman of Sesang Group, and complete the perfect happy ending before this 14-episode drama reaches its finale.
A beautiful childhood friend, a sexy younger sister, a devoted maid, a cute but broke part-timer, a brilliant and flawless secretary and a stepmother constantly plotting to kill you, an eccentric chairman whose thoughts are impossible to read, and an ambitious younger brother determined to steal your throne.
The trailer above features live on-set audio, which is unlike the games from Storytaco. They may later add audio filmed in a studio, although since this is a collaboration between Showbox and it features more traditional actresses, perhaps they will stick with the audio recorded on set.
An Unpredictable Makjang Storyline
Arranged marriage, chaebol family schemes, a psychiatric hospital, secret births! Classic K-drama clichés come crashing in one after another. But every choice you make can send the story in a completely different direction, so make sure you make the right ones to survive all the way to Episode 14 and create the perfect happy ending.
Showbox have created some massive projects like The Host (2006), Itaewon Class (2020), and A Taxi Driver (2017). The game features actresses Angelina Danilova, Pyo Eunji, Pyo Young-seo, Lee Song-kyung, Lee Yubi, and Yoo So-young. Three of them have over 1 million followers on Instagram. This collobration is somewhat notable for Storytaco because it moves away from their traditional approach of getting Maxim models and Milk/Cheese film actresses.
