The Japanese FMV game that features gravure models has finally returned to Steam. Sweet Hamster Days was relisted under a new appid today following its removal in the middle of October last year. The game also now has a mature content warning, which indicates a change to Steam’s policy. It is due out in July, 2026

The game is tagged as containing ‘Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content’
This production contains scenes featuring characters in swimwear and other revealing attire.
This means it is unavailable for purchase in China, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. A demo for the game will apparently be available Steam’s Next Fest from June 16th to June 23rd.

This new listing comes after Enjoy Amoy & Sisters was temporarily, and perhaps accidentally, marked as Adult Only before its release. It would appear that games featuring real human actors will likely not be instantly removed if they feature adult content and instead be assigned into Adult Only categories. It will be up to the developers how they wish to proceed from then.
Chinese games will unlikely want the AO tag, because 90% of their sales are from mainland China. But this may let other studios from Korea and Japan release more mature FMV titles without fighting the Steam Review process. Any game previously removed will likely need to be relisted under a new appid.
We will see later this year and into 2027 whether more FMV games adopt the AO only tag or if most try to remain accessible to a bigger audience by adhering to Steam’s default censorship policy.
