Heroines Through My Lens Review

Storytaco are one of the most prolific developers of FMV dating sims but not all they release is worth snapping up. Heroines Through My Lens is a shallow experience that relies on attractive Korean models and passable humor. It falters with repetitive photoshoots, a nothing story, and unemotional romance.

Released: 15 Dec 2025

This tale begins with you getting a job at a YouTube studio that employs two lookbook models who require photographing. Although you are a fashion expert, you end up taking the pictures. Eventually three more colleagues step in front of the lens. There is not much more to the story. It does have some humor and funny choices, but you might find yourself occasionally laughing out of pity.

The five love interests look amazing but lack authenticity. Not all are bad. Your manager, Junhee, and edgy lookbook model, Ahreum, are fairly natural on screen. Supervisor, Jiyoung, is alright too, but her tsundere personality is more bitter than sweet. The last two are the weakest link. Fashion colleague, Hyewon, and Japanese model, Suzuki Mina, behave in ways that gave me second-hand embarrassment; they somehow both overact and undersell emotion. It is telling that the best actor in the game is the side-character Director, who is over-the-top but at least brings passion.

There is a severe lack of romantic connection, not solely due to the ordinary acting. Characters are skin deep and have no interesting arcs or back stories. They form no genuine bond because most only like you for being competent at photography. Each heroine has three endings via 10 minute branching finales—after you get their affection ridiculously high—and while this is longer than average, most endings are forgettable. The game is practically emotionally bankrupt.

Taking photos is a big part of the game but not a good one. You watch the models pose (they are good at that, at least) and click the QTEs as they come up. These QTEs are trivial and repetitive, but the worst part is that the game stacks multiple shoots together and it gets boring. If you are only here to look at the models in different outfits (most are tame) then the photoshoots might be worth way more to you than they were to me.

It takes about 3 hours to finish and over 8 to 100%, but a lot of that time feels wasted. The game uses ADR, like other Storytaco games and the execution is average. Translation is okay, maybe a fraction better than FHUORS2, but a few scenes had busted subs. Video Quality is one positive, but almost the minimum since so much of the experience is gawking at models. At least it is fairly well put together in terms of the interface. If you have not played Don’t Fool Me Beauties, try that instead. Because although Heroines Through My Lens is not horrible, outside of the visual there is little reason to give it a shot.

    1. The demo is a pretty good guide of what you will get, but there is a little bit more personal character interaction later (going for a walk with Ahreum, for example).
