In Search of You Review

The arc for all women plays out the same: you spend time drinking in a nightclub, go to your yacht, and then go back home. I assume once you’ve unlocked all girls, you get access to the sixth hidden option, but I stopped after three because it is incredibly dry and boring.

While there might technically be branching paths, they don’t amount to much. It is basically linear but you might get 3 scenes every time there is a choice. There is no sense of competition. No way to choose to be with one character instead of another. There is no romantic connection, just women saying that love you for no reason. The women have no personality and the main character has no objective. The player-character seems to be a sleazy rich playboy and the women are essentially shy escorts.

There is overlapping dialogue and a lack of polish, like it was all done in one take. One woman even dodges the camera as it comes close in a bath scene. A single arc will take about 40 minutes and it ends with a stupidly long phone text conversation that is the same for all women.

There are huge translation issues; whole scenes have no English subs. Even trying to change it to Chinese (for Google Lens) doesn’t work because they flash for 1 frame and can’t be captured in a pause. That final phone text conversation is not translated, so you’ll need Google Lens or similar, however it’s so dumb you’d almost be better up reading Bob the Builder fan fiction instead.

Finally the video quality is consistently poor. The best shot for the whole game is of a seagull, with the rest of it having a bitrate that makes RealMedia streams from 2000 look like 4K HD.
