Enjoy Amoy & Sisters marked as Adults Only on Steam

Less than two weeks after it was first listed, Enjoy Amoy & Sisters has been marked as Adults Only on Steam. The store page now lists that it has “‘Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content.” And because of this AO tag, it has also been blocked from sale in China, Germany and Saudi Arabia.

With recent removals of Ghost Camp, Be Rich or Good, and Sweet Hamster Days, this could mark a change in how Steam handles games that breach the censorship guidelines. Rather than silently removing them altogether, they might get tagged as AO.

It is unclear if developers can make content adjustments to remove this AO moniker. Since 90% of sales are by Chinese gamers, the developers will not be happy with it being banned from sale in China. This recent tag also probably means they either tried to have a demo or the full game reviewed by Steam, and it did not pass.

This could also open the door for FMV games of adult nature to be sold. Such as the “coser” games on Epic, and maybe even some porn games. I am currently not aware of any other FMV game that has been tagged as AO, before now. It is unlikely that games that have been delisted will return automatically, but if they were resubmitted again, they would probably be tagged as AO and be fit for sale.

On a side note, the developers for Sweet Hamster Days are still planning to release their game sometime in late March, and this new development means they could probably resubmit to Steam and sell it without any content adjustments. The company behind Sweet Hamster Days is the FRIDAY magazine, a major Gravure publisher, and perhaps they have the legal muscle to ask for changes to how mature FMV games are handled on the Steam platform.
