Beauties for Help on the Island Review

After your cruise ship sinks, you wake up on a tiny raft beside a stunning blonde woman. It is not long before you spot land and make it ashore. Two more women are found nearby and then you start trying to survive, which means getting food, creating an SOS, and setting up shelter. While the main story is not deep, it is more than adequate to make things flow, with a few dramatic situations.

Six love interests need your help to survive, and they are all awesome thanks to sharp dialogue and cool scenarios. The protagonist spends a lot of time fending off advances as the group bickers away. That blonde from the raft, Chu Anqi, is a tech pro but always complains, which is actually endearing. Xu Yourong keeps going on about romance but wants you to play hard-to-get. Feng Huanhuan is your ride-or-die. Chen Qiyue is the traditional romantic. Jin Wanqing is the tough CEO who fights over leadership. And, finally, Sunday is an island native, but unfortunately she only appears late so feels underused.

The acting is amazing. Sun Yanqing (Qiyue) has been stuck doing Mountain & Sea titles and now you can see her play a rounded character. Lu Lanyu (Yourong) is better here than in Game of Fate 1, as she tries to butter you up. Even the whining Lu Yitong is far more appealing than her princess character in LIAA 2. Model Cheng Er is excellent as the boss but also needed more screen time. All actresses who have been in other games are better here. And the combination makes for one of the strongest lineups this year.

Also brilliant is the game’s production values. The video quality makes the tropical island look amazing, whether you are exploring the beach, caves, or a village. Almost every scrap of audio is live recorded and crystal clear with perfect volume, so amazing! Props are great too, selling authenticity. There are also a few cool music tracks used, like from Louis Island. The tropical island location is such a nice turnabout and hopefully future games leverage other unique locations.

The game does have survival elements, where you combine items to craft objects, and although cool it is not that much different from the item system in Knowledge or Know Lady. The branching paths will take a 4.5 hour playthrough up to about 8 to see all scenes. There is also a survival mode that was not played for this review, but it is required for all achievements. Overall this is a fantastic experience, so start your tropical island getaway today.
