Enjoy Amoy & Sisters Review

This journey begins with you returning to your home town of Xiamen (aka Amoy) to have a guided tour by two young women, Xiaoxi and Ayin. These two are live streamers who are most appreciative of you being their #1 simp for years. Quite why a local needs a tour of their hometown is a mystery, but let us assume the player-character got whacked on the head.

The game falls into a routine of going to popular tourist destinations and having the two women recite Wikipedia articles. This would be fine if the delivery had spice. Instead, most of it is shoulder-level camera angles of the two standing abreast and speaking. They’re not horrible at it, but it’s too repetitive and distant, and likely funded by the tourism board of Xiamen. When they split up, and you pick one to accompany, it only offers a bit more personality.

Destinations are sometimes interesting thanks to architecture or history. Xiamen University, Gulangyu Island, Hulishan Battery, and the Nanputuo Temple are among the cooler places seen. Historic tidbits can be interesting, like the creation of Tusun jelly. But at just two hours long it doesn’t have time to linger. You never deeply explore anywhere, nor do you participate in many activities that might create a connection with Xiamen.

In terms of romance, it is rather plain as well. While the two women are nice, they don’t have much personality. They both like you from the prologue and that’s it. You do have some meals with them and see them in swimsuits, but the romance is barebones.

Based on their affection values, there are 8 endings which do give a reason to revisit the timeline. Sadly when going back through scenes, it crashed over 20 times, and it took about 3.5 hours to clear it 100%.

Enjoy Amoy & Sisters is a minimal viable product. It does what it says on the box, but no more. If the developers are serious about making a better sequel, there are many possible avenues. Craft a fun story, maybe by including a treasure hunt that ties locations together. Create intrigue, by adding depth to the tour guides. Chill with the Wikipedia articles, and make scenes dynamic and grounded. If romance and travel are going to hold hands then they need a tight grip to form a real connection.
