Comparison (Chinese -> English)

Q. What English content is supported (+ ko, zh, vi, fr, es, pt-BR, ru, ja)?

  • Subtitles
  • Choices
  • Main Menu
  • Rank Menu (favor)
  • Phone Messages
  • Chapter Endings
  • Endings (via Subtitles)
  • Saving and Tips etc

Q. What is not translated?

  • Chapter images (text is chinese)

Q. Is the game Hardsubbed? How did you add subtitles?

Yes it is hardsubbed. Videos were NOT modified. The existing Chinese text is still visible.
The game injects subtitles at runtime.
Doing it this way brings many advantages: tiny mod size, multilingual support, customizable subtitles. Subtitle changes are quick and easy by editing SRT files, players can edit subs however they like.
While the game is only 21GB, it would still require maintaining a repository of original videos and converted ones. Not to mention problems with encoding that might lower video quality etc. This is messy no matter how you do it.
Subtitle injection is clean and scalable.

Q. Any Changes from the Chinese version?

  • Auto-saving (3 per chapter with 10s grace) – saves now listed in time order.
  • Save recovery when End save is corrupted (sometimes).
  • Rank menu fixed to be assigned to the correct person.
  • Font changed to NotoSansCJK for wide language support
  • The save button + back button + cursor will hide after 1 second of inactivity.
  • Some image buttons were changed to pure text for better multi-lingual support.
  • Drop shadow and size adjustments for choices and favor etc.
  • Main menu links to the douyin account rather than a dead website

Q. It supports other Languages too?

简体中文,Tiếng Việt, Français, 한국어, Español, Português (Brasil),Русский, 日本語

The LocalizationManager reads from json files to update the text being displayed. This is similar other implementations (e.g. Summer Cook) but simplified and customizable. You can add a new language into the /UI/config.json and create the corresponding folders. Klingon? Beam me up. Latin? veni vidi vici. No code changes are needed. Keep in mind, adding too many languages will overflow the settings menu.

To fully support a new language, simply translate every value field in UI/{la}/strings.json. For choices, translate only the “PortName” inside all of the UI/{la}/ChapterX.json files. For phone messages, translate only “ChatContent” values the UI/{la}/Dialogue.json. All other fields are ignored. They were included because I thought I might need them later. And don’t forget to translate all the SRT files in Subtitles/{la}/

Without the LocalizationManager, I could have patched roughly 80% of the text into English, but the game has native Chinese baked into the code. Some is hooked into image lookups, like character images, so changing these breaks lots of things. Even then, other languages would not be supported.
All languages are LLM translated (Gemini). Let me know if they suck or not.

Q. How can I customize the subtitles display?

Navigate to StreamingAssets/Subtitles/sub_config.json. Edit the contents with notepad to adjust color, size, position, outline, shadow etc. Most settings should be obvious but play around. There are two other presets in this folder. The sub_config_closed_captions.json one has black rectangle under the text and is placed above the chinese text to hide it. The sub_config_match_style.json matches the styling and colors of the existing Chinese subs. Just rename these files to sub_config.json, or copy the settings inside to that file into sub_config.json to make it work.

Q. Is the game any good?

It’s okay. Best summary is that this is a cheap production that has some great actresses. The game is missing a lot of typical features. There is no timeline. The save system is strange because you have to load a game to continue. There is no character info page. Rank is only a measure of current favor, not a global rank. Scenes are very short. Audio volume is all over the place (mostly live recorded at least). Structure is messy.

Q. Will they add English?

Probably not. This is 2024 release and it looks like it did not sell that well. The website that the main menu originally linked to (https://www.xdmw520.com/) is “under construction” so likely dead. This seems to have been an amateur production, made with the help of DREAME sponsorship—the actresses promote the vacuum cleaner a few times in game. Having said that, if Tomorrow’s Love Puzzle can be brought back to life after 2 years, anything is possible.

Q. Any known issues and tips?

End chapter saves get corrupted with wrong GUID for videos. I have been able to circumvent some corruptions, but they will likely occur infrequently. If you click on a save and it does nothing, that is corrupt and should be deleted.

The game does not store a global list of scenes watched so Q won’t work to skip videos you have seen. BUT you can fast-forward through every scene with right arrow -> which will alleviate some pain when going back through the game.

Subs were generated with OCR and unfortunately some text on screen was picked up and occasionally this text will pop up as subtitles. Sorry about that. Special mention going to the guy that wore an “Orgasm Donor” shirt that created quite the subtitle chaos.

Some menus might lag a few seconds on first load because it’s creating UI elements behind the scenes and also dealing with the localization. This only happens once per session.
